First Diddy, then Kanye, Vin Diesel and A$AP Rocky…. Men in Skirts

Back in 2010 Diddy got into the Scottish spirit and rocked a Kilt during a concert in Glasgow. While the skirt wearing star created a lot of buzz, it was nothing compared to Kanye wests leather skirt he wore in 2012. Since then, it’s apparently become the norm for male celebrities to rock out in skirts and dresses. Stars like Vin Diesel, A$AP Rocky, Omar Epps, Coolio and Snoop Dogg (or Lion – depending on when you started listening to his music, lol) have become quite accustomed to the breezy feeling of wearing a skirt!

Is this unconventional style becoming standard or are they just having a little fun?

Personally I don’t see anything wrong with throwing a kilt on every now and then for a performance or red carpet event. Men do it all the time in Scotland right? – Apparently so did Dictator Idi Amin and I don’t think he felt any less of a man!

While most of these men are making a fashion statement, there are some who have taken the dress/skirt fad too far. A rapper, Young Thug (somehow his name makes this a little less surprising. He clearly doesn’t have good judgment, lol) was spotted wearing what was thought to be a woman’s shirt – but was in fact a little girls dress!

He’s generally a little bit bizarre – I think it’s safe to say this fashion trend will not be catching on!

What Are Your Thoughts???

  1. Men should be able to wear skirts when they want to. Women wear pants all the time now and men used to wear skirts in the past. As long as the skirt looks manly (most of pleated skirts do fit a man right). But no girlie dresses or skirts with flowers and the likes. I think there are two groups, one is men who want the ability to wear skirts and still look like a man, and then men who want to cross dress.

    • Flowers? South seas men wear them. You are off base and your mentality is clouded by old English Puritanism and “the Great Masculine Renunciation” caused by the awful French Revolution. Have a look at “neck ruffs” worn by upper class males in the 1500s to 1600s. In 1664, King Louis XIV of France sent 4,000 soldiers (bearded men) to Austria to defend against a Turk invasion. The Turks were defeated. The Frenchmen wore “petticoat breeches” with ribbons. Some people have just no historical background! “Solomon in all his glory” was a reference to his clothes—not his palace.

  2. I just like the helpful information you provide in your
