In a recent interview with COMPLEX magazine,
Balmain Creative Director Olivier Rousteing speaks candidly about his childhood in Bordeaux, France and how fashion helped him find his own identity and build his own world. Rousteing also touches more directly on what we can expect from the upcoming collection, which is set to hit select H&M stores on Nov. 11.
“I wanted the collaboration to stay true to my vision of the Balmain house, to the DNA of the house,” the designer says. “I wanted to push the boundaries of the craftsmanship. Every fitting, every tailoring, everything to look exactly like my vision of Balmain in H&M.”
Featured in a recent article by British GQ, we get our first glimpse at the high-top silhouette which features a two-tone, mixed material upper of what appears to be black leather and military green suede. Additional details include the d-ring eyelets, the extended tongue, and waxed cotton laces. Retail on the pair is reported to be £100 which is approximately $155 and will be released with the rest of the collection on November 5 at select H&M locations.
It won’t all be affordable!
There will be pieces in the Balmain x H&M collection that won’t be very purse-friendly. for example, the ‘limited edition’ embellished dress worn by Gigi Hadid to a NYFW party will cost £399.99. Ouch.
The clothing in the H&M collection will be very similar to what has already been released in the summer & winter collection of previous years, 2013 onwards. Feels and looks authentic as opposed to a diffusion line.
